Orchestral
workshops with
professional musicians.
The
orchestra continues to stage a variety of top orchestral workshops for
its membership and other players in the region.
Prospective new players
of all ages are welcome to attend these workshops. Workshops
are an inclusive feature of the annual programme of EMGSO at no extra
charge to members.

The Spring workshop with our C.B.S.O tutors took place
on Sunday 9th. March 2008 in Exeter.
Detailed study of Mahler and Bach featured.

A workshop took place on Sunday 23rd. September 2007 in Exeter
with 7 members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

The Autumn 2005 workshop took place in
October with colleagues from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra
as tutors. Much good work was done in preparation for the special
charity November 2005 concert in the Great Hall at Exeter
University.

A special workshop was staged in Exeter on
Saturday 18th. November 2004 with the string sections of the Devon
Youth Orchestra. Strings of EMGSO combined under the direction
of Roger Hendy to study Tippett's Concerto for Double String orchestra.
The day was a great success and the work
was included in the Exeter Cathedral programme in April 2005.
Our thanks to colleagues at Devon Youth Music for
helping us stage this unique joint initiative. The concert was a
resounding success. |

Another special event took place in
September 2006 when the orchestra studied movements from Bartok's
Concerto for Orchestra. |
